WE DAY 2010!!
WOW. What a DAY! One packed stadium in Toronto. 18,000 students and more than a dozen awesome speakers and performers from around the world. All that amounted to some serious energy and a great, inspiring show!
This was the 4th annual ‘We Day’ which was started by Free The Children to empower youth to make positive change in the world. Craig Kielburger and his brother Mark founded Free the Children when they were just twelve years old. When you hear their story and see them speak about what they’ve accomplished (like building hundreds of schools in poor, starving nations) you’ll feel inspired to do something positive for others yourself!
Jacob Hoggard of Hedley spoke about his trip to Africa and how it changed his life and gave him a deeper understanding of humanity. Deepak Chopra (of India) shared some very inspiring words of wisdom about what it takes to be a leader and how each of us has it in us to change the world. The Toronto band 'Down With Webster' jammed out some great music (my fave was their hit song “Your Man” which got the stadium to its feet and rocking at the early hour of 10 am! And the show just got better from there. When K’naan sang 'Wave the Flag' now that was a moment of true togetherness unlike anything I’ve felt before.
